Your Journey

Step by Step Process

Initial Consultation

We talk to you, learn about your condition, procedure details, and key care team members. This first consultation helps us understand how we can best support you.

01

Service Agreement and Informed Consent

We establish a master service agreement with clear scope, so you know exactly how we are going to work together.

02

Tissue Negotiation

We work with you and your care team to negotiate how much tissue will be available for custodial preservation in advance of your procedure.

03

Tissue Allocation

We work with you to prioritize testing options given how much tumor tissue is available.

04

End to End Care Team Coordination

We build relationships with your care team to ensure seamless logistics during your procedure.

05

Concierge Sample Collection

We provide onsite support and kit delivery to your facility, and confirm cold-storage collection. Kits are available for both blood and solid tumor samples, each containing a sterile collection container and prep instructions.

06

Sample Handling and Processing

Kernis delivers the sample to our partner's biobanking facility, or to the appropriate Kernis partner.

07

Sample Accession and Quality Control

Incoming QC confirms your sample contains viable live cells. Your tissue is then divided into three storage modalities for maximum future flexibility.

08

Secure Storage & Access

Your tissue remains fully under your control via a detailed chain of custody log. You will have access to a menu of options ranging from basic storage to fully leveraging our network through the Kernis Portal.

09

Future Testing Options

As your treatment landscape evolves, we help you allocate your tissue for future testing options and track how much sample is available.
